Spring AP Exams Scheduled

Students in AP courses will have the opportunity to take AP exams May 7-18. Exams are $94 each, unless your child receives free/reduced lunch. In that case, exams are $62 each. Contact your child's AP teacher, or email laurie.blair@quinlanisd.net to register your student for an exam. A student may take an AP test even if he/she did not take the AP course. Home schooled students in the area may also register to take AP exams at FHS. Some colleges offer credit hours for AP exam scores of 3 or higher. QISD makes no guarantee of any college accepting any AP exam score for credit. AP exam registration deadline is March 26, 2018.

PSAT 9 and PSAT 10

The PSAT 9 and PSAT 10 exams will be offered on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at FHS. There are 20 spots available for 9th graders and 20 spots available for 10th graders. Students may sign up, first come/first served in the main office. The test is $15.00 and must be paid by March 5, 2018. The test will be given during the school day. These tests are designed to pinpoint student areas of strength and weakness prior to taking the SAT for college admissions.

If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Mandatory Dual Credit Program Parent Meeting

If you are interested in having your student participate in the PJC Dual Credit Program next year, please plan to attend a mandatory parent information meeting on Monday, February 26 at 6 pm in the FHS Auditorium. This meeting is for all parents and students who are not currently in the program but would like to join.
A second meeting will be held March 22 at 6 pm at FHS, and attendance at one of these two meetings is mandatory in order for your student to be considered for the program.
If you have any questions, please contact the school.

FHS to offer ASVAB testing in March

FHS students in grades 10-12 will have the opportunity to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, or ASVAB, in March. ASVAB scores along with their interest codes help students explore the variety of occupations that appeal to them.

Research has shown that students who participate in the ASVAB Program experience less career indecision, enjoy greater confidence in making career decisions, and consider more thoughtfully their options than do students who do
not participate in the ASVAB Program.

ASVAB participants are not under any obligation to the Military as a result of taking the ASVAB. But a junior or senior can use their scores from the ASVAB to enlist in the Military after graduation. The scores are good for two years. Many students take the ASVAB for career exploration and have no interest in military occupations.

We will provide more information soon about the upcoming ASVAB administration. If you have questions, please contact the school.
