Counselor's Corner

Welcome to the Ford High School Counseling Website!  We hope the information we have provided will be helpful to you as you and your student work with the school to have a successful high school career.
FHS Counselors for 2017-2018 are Laurie Blair (students A-K) and Marlo Scott (students L-Z).  If you would like to speak with your child's counselor, please call FHS at 903-356-1600.  If the counselors are unavailable, your message will be returned as soon as possible.  Your student can also fill out our online Counselor Minute Meeting form to help us know how to help your student best.   Information is confidential and only seen by the counselor. This is one more tool we can use to help you be as successful as possible!
Our counselors use the Remind 101 app for getting information to students, from freshman through seniors and all our dual credit participants.  Students are provided with a handout with the number and code to enroll in the Remind 101 text app system.  Remind 101 is safe, secure, and never shares your student's number with any school staff, including the counseling office.  Teachers never see student or parent phone numbers, and students or parents will never see their teacher's phone number.  Remind 101 messages are sent via an anonymous phone number issued when you sign up for an account. Your student's personal cell phone number and carrier are in no way connected to messages. Staff members cannot directly communicate with one student.  This prevents any form of bullying, favoritism, or inappropriate conversation between teachers and students. Parents are invited to sign up as well.

How are you feeling?

Mental health is a key part of your overall health. Brief screenings are the quickest way to determine if you or someone you care about should connect with a mental health professional - they are a checkup from your neck up. This program is completely anonymous and confidential, and immediately following the brief questionnaire you will see your results, recommendations, and key resources.

If you are at least 17 years and 10 months old prior to any local, state, or national election, you may register to vote!  You must turn 18 to actually participate in the election.
If you are an 18 year old male, you are required by federal law to register for Selective Service.

Congrats to our Panthers who are going places!  Our seniors are accepted at colleges and universities across the country!
